Thanks Chris. Rice mania seems to have died down here, and actually Lisa's beginning to have a career in her own right (she release a solo album in 2008 that got great reviews)

There's a snippet here from her wikipedia page that can add more fuel to the flames:

On 26 March 2007, Damien Rice announced that his professional relationship with Lisa Hannigan has ended, saying the relationship "has run its creative course" and that Hannigan would leave the band immediately to pursue a solo career. Hannigan had been in Munich, Germany with Rice's tour when she had learned that she was no longer needed and returned to Dublin immediately to begin work on her solo career. The singer later said of the split: "I suppose it was coming for a long time. I had become pretty outspoken about my frustrations at the direction the band was going in, and I'm sure he was starting to find me a pain." She was comforted by members of The Magic Numbers and has not spoken to Rice since the incident. She has since described the split as the best thing that has ever happened to her.

That's some cold shit! Anyway thanks for the comment.

PS: Just noticed a big pile of typos / formatting errors in the original post, I'm off to correct those now!

I realize that this is an absolutely ancient thread, by online standards, but it so perfectly captures what I felt to be amiss in the "Damien Rice experience" that I have to chime in...

As a typical American, I came to 'Blowers Daughter' via Closer (yes, while hoping for a gander at Natalie's nethers) but I stayed with the soundtrack for the music. That being said, Lisa's ethereal voice - when it chimed in - is clearly superior to Damien's at all times.

I suppose that's why he cut her, unceremoniously by all accounts. What a tool...
